The Santa Maria Valley Groundwater Basin underlies the 110,000-acre Santa Maria Valley, as well as other contiguous areas in the Central Coast region. The firm represents a set of clients with significant land holdings in the Santa Maria Valley in a lawsuit that has been initiated to determine the overlying, municipal and industrial rights to extract and use groundwater located in the Basin. The case currently involves several hundred parties.

Atascadero Mutual Water Company (AMWC) is one of the largest mutual water companies in the state of California. One of the firm's principals obtained a trial court defense judgment for AMWC in a lawsuit challenging its historical riparian and groundwater rights and an affirmation of that judgment from the court of appeal.
